“ Food was great. Much better at the restaurant rather than takeout. Service was super attentive and great, too. Slight minus on the strong smelling cleaning solvent they use to clean the tables....but really this should be 4.5 stars. ”
“ Great service from Chris! Very informed and gave recommendations when asked. The food itself was not bad but nothing super special. I got the saag paneer and the chai creme brûlée as a dessert. The saag paneer came with rice which was decent and the chai creme brûlée was unique, but tasted a bit like pumpkin to me which was unexpected. The ambiance is great however and great staff! ”
“ This place has such good and well-made Indian curries! My friend and I shared the saag paneer and naan basket. My friend got the chicken tikka masala and garlic naan. Everything was great. They do have a limited menu now but as always, everything is still great. If you come between 5-7pm, they have happy hour. Ask if they have it and they will bring you the menu. The service was excellent and he even took some photos of us. The ambiance is also wonderful. I can hear my friends and also enjoy the ambiance. Overall, fantastic Indian food and can't wait to come back here again! ”
“ We had a reservation in advance and were seated immediately once we arrived. We started with the naan and chutney flight, which was really good! We also got the vegetable samosas which were good, but one of them came over fried and the exterior was too hard. For mains we tried the butter chicken and chicken pista korma. Great flavor in both! On the sweeter side. The inside of the restaurant is very nice and is great for a nice sit down meal. The service was on the slower side though, and this was on a Thursday night ”
“ Indian food is not usually my go to cuisine, but I really enjoyed my meal at Pappe! The room is beautifully decorated and cozy. The food has the same attention to detail! While I found the cauliflower to be a little sweet and heavy, I really enjoyed the puff pastry appetizer which had a nice balance of creaminess and sweetness to it that I didn't expect. Of course, the garlic naan was a hit, as was the chicken tikka masala ”
“ An amazing dining experience truly summarizes my experience at Pappe! It was my friends and my first time but definitely won't be the last. An intimate space with beautiful decor, the staff was welcoming from the minute we walked in. We snagged seats at the bar and decided to try a few different options from the happy hour menu. For drinks we had the sangree-uh and the mango margaritas (my fav). Food also did not disappoint. I definitely recommend trying the lamb ribs which are so flavorful and cooked to perfection. I also enjoyed the Mussels Malabar which had a tasty coconut curry flavor with a kick if you like spice. I enjoyed everything I ate and drank. The music and service - Quinn was very kind, answered our questions and made great recommendations - were an added bonus. I look forward to returning! ”
“ Met up with a friend here for their happy hour. We didn't have reservations, but it was pretty empty when we arrived, so we were sat right away. I was greeted immediately upon entry, which was nice. I love the decor in the restaurant; it's so chic and modern - with the dim lighting, this would also be a cute spot for a date night. Their happy hour menu has a good selection and is actually decently priced. The only thing that was disappointing was they were out of the lamb samosas for the evening, but aside from that, everything else went smoothly. My favorite dish from the evening BY FAR was the mussels - that curry broth was so flavorful, I wanted to drink it straight from the bowl. I also liked the old fashioned that I ordered. Overall, I enjoyed my experience here. This is a solid option for a happy hour if you're in the area. ”
“ We decided as a family to visit Pappe, a restaurant my cousin heard good things about. It has co-owners including Chef Sanjay Mandhaiya who had 2 previous restaurants in the area. Located in a trendy area of DC we arrived early and were able to select our own seats. We ordered cheesy kulcha for the kids, bangain bartha (great), vegetable samosas, aloo papdi chaat and garlic daal fry for appetizers/main course. We added Punjabi aloo ghobi, butter naan and mushroom biryani. They were kind for a dessert for our special occasion. Drinks Limca, Thumbs Up and G&T. Décor very nice inside, great bar area and very friendly service by the team including Flor and GM Mac Rena. We met Owner Sanjay. Would definitely return and strongly recommend. Be careful to state level of spicy for the food. ”
